The Epiphany of the Lord

“As we begin the New Year, may we discover anew that faith demands worship. If we can fall on our knees before Jesus, we will overcome the temptation to set off on our own path.” (Pope Francis, Jan. 6, 2020)

On this Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, we remember that God came to earth for everyone, every nation, every people.

Come join us for the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord on Sunday, January 5th, The Three Kings will be there to take photos and to share some sweet treats with the children after the 10 AM , and after the 12 PM Spanish Mass. Hope you can join us!

An Epiphany House Blessing
On the Feast of the Epiphany, the family gathers to ask God’s blessing on their home and on those who live in or visit the home. It is an invitation for Jesus to be a daily guest in our home, our comings, and goings, our conversations, our work and play, our joys and sorrows. A traditional way of doing this is to use chalk to write above the home’s entrance. It can be written on the outside or inside of the home: 20 + C + M + B + 25.
The + signs represent the cross and 2025 is the year. The letters C, M, B have two meanings: They are the initials of the names of the three Magi: Caspar, Melchoir, and Balthazar. They also abbreviate the Latin phrase ‘Christus mansionem benedicat’ ‘May Christ bless this house’.

Please pick up your Epiphany House blessing kit after Mass the weekend of January 4 & 5, 2025, so we can get 2025 off on a good and blessed start!

Epiphany Blessing Of A Home

All make the Sign of the Cross.

Head of Household: “Peace be to this house and to all who dwell here, in the name of the Lord.

All: Blessed be God forever.

Reader: In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him, nothing came to be….. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-3,14)

Using chalk, write above or next to an entrance to your home—inside or outside.

20 + C + M + B + 25

All: Lord God of heaven and earth, you revealed your only begotten Son to every nation by the guidance of a star. Bless this house and all who inhabit it. May we be blessed with health, goodness of heart, gentleness, and the keeping of your law. Fill us with the light of Christ, that our love for each other may go out to all. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
