National NFP Awareness Week – July 20 – 26, 2025
National Natural Family Planning Week Begins on July 20th!
The theme this year is:
Pursue a lasting love … MARRIAGE Create hope for the future!
Natural Family Planning Program Mission –
Supporting God’s gifts of love and life in marriage
Helping married couples to deepen conjugal love and achieve responsible parenthood is part of the Church’s total pastoral ministry to Catholic spouses. Fulfillment of this ministry includes both education and pastoral care. This means “instilling conviction and offering practical help to those who wish to live out their parenthood in a truly responsible way” (Familiaris consortio, 35).
Natural Family Planning Awareness Week is a national educational campaign. The dates of Natural Family Planning Awareness Week highlight the anniversary of the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae (July 25) which articulates Catholic beliefs about human sexuality, conjugal love, and responsible parenthood. The dates also mark the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne (July 26), the parents of the Blessed Mother. Are you interested in learning more or do you have any questions?

DID YOU KNOW…

• In 2005, The World Health Organization (WHO) classified oral contraceptives as Group I Carcinogens (Group I being the most dangerous)?
• When practiced correctly, NFP has an unintended pregnancy rate of less than 0.2%?
• Couples who practice NFP have a less than 3% divorce rate?
Natural Family Planning (NFP) is fertility awareness. These scientific, natural, and moral methods of family planning can help married couples either achieve or postpone pregnancies. These methods also have the advantage over artificial birth control in avoiding side effects and health risks. NFP methods are based on the observation of the naturally occurring signs and symptoms of the fertile and infertile phases of a woman’s menstrual cycle. No chemicals, drugs, devices, or surgical procedures are used to avoid pregnancy. It is 100% natural and ecological. NFP is good for the body and great for the soul! Since the methods of NFP respect the love-giving (unitive) and life-giving (procreative) nature of the conjugal act, they support God’s design for married love.
